At West Side Recreation and Park District Preschool our purpose and philosophy is to provide a developmentally appropriate program that promotes the development of children's social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills.  Special attention is given to children's individual learning and creativity.

Our goal is that each child's first school experience will be a positive one.  Our curriculum encourages language development, problem solving and social awareness in a small group setting. 

Our preschool is located in the Community Center Activity Building at 500 Cascade Place in Taft. We operate on an open-door policy, and parents are always welcome.  We also encourage parent participation, such as bringing snacks, helping with parties, and field trips.

We have 3 classes for ages 3-5 years.  Our Tuesday/Thursday class has two sessions-9:00-10:30am or 11:00am-12:30pm.  Our Monday/Wednesday/Friday class is for ages 4-5 years and meets from 9:00-11:15am.

Toddler Time Classes are designed for children ages 2 years and up, accompanied by an adult/caregiver.  You will spend some fun time with your toddler participating in a variety of activities.  Registration is separate for each session of Toddler Time.  Sign-up for as many as you wish!  A minimum of 5 paid children is required for each session.

SESSION 1: September 3-October 8, 2008
TOT CHEF
We will combine stories and making snacks together to enjoy.  Learn some ways to have your toddler help make some yummy recipes.

SESSION 2: October 15-November 19, 2008
HOLIDAY FUN
Books, activities, fingerplays and songs centered around Halloween & Thanksgiving.

SESSION 3: January 14-February 18, 2009
MUSIC & MOVEMENT
Toddlers will be part of a fun, interactive environment through music, singing, dancing and games.

SESSION 4: February 25-April 1, 2009
OOEY GOOEY FUN
Dress ready to make a mess!  Toddlers will explore and experiment with hands-on messy substances such as clean mud, playdough, shaving cream & more.

SESSION 5: April 15-May 20, 2009
OUTDOOR ADVENTURE
We will have fun with water play, obstacle courses, parachute, and other outside activities.
